Le Sanglier Sauvage Grenache Syrah Marselan 2023
£11.04
- A classic wine, with a little twist. We've replaced the more traditional Mourvèdre with a less well-known variety, Marselan.
- The blend incorporates 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Marselan, all from 30-year-old vines planted on wonderful, round pebble soils.
- Adding a dash of Marselan has given the finished wine violet floral notes, hints of chocolate and suppleness to the finish.

The Wine The Wine

Region:Occitanie
We blended this wine with winemaker Cedric Ragues back in the winter of 2023. The vintage tasting took place at his family home, on the kitchen table. Surrounded by dozens of samples and measuring cylinders we were testing and tweaking until late in the evening, getting things just how we know you like your southern French reds. A wine full of red and black fruit, grippy but structured tannins and a balanced, long and juicy finish.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Cédric Ragues
Cédric Ragues, a passionate Languedoc winemaker, crafts expressive, sun-drenched wines that capture the essence of southern France. Blending tradition with innovation, he brings the Mediterranean terroir to life in every bottle.
"I have been experimenting with Marselan for a few years now and think it will form a key part in my winemaking and blending thanks to its resistance to disease and ability to tolerate extreme heat. It was great to work on this blend with Virgin Wines and bottle something truly unique for the portfolio." - Cedric Ragues, Winemaker.
