The Wine The Wine
Italy
Region:Puglia
As one of the first in the UK to introduce the appassimento style, we know this wine well, and we know even better how much our customers love it! There's always room for evolution though and it was during a tasting that came the lightbulb moment. Malbec. This is a grape that has a natural and unique blueberry-style freshness that we thought would elevate the decadent appassimento style seamlessly. The problem was finding an Italian appassimento producer that grew Malbec too. But we found them! And this is it, a traditionally rich appassimento with a Malbec lift. Almost certainly a first.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
The Lorusso Family
The Lorusso family have been so influential to the world of Puglian wine. Over multiple generations they have always pushed the limits of quality wine production. It's a relationship we're really grateful for, and it means access to first class wines with the typicity you'd expect from this region.
"A lovely blend, based on a typical appassimento style with grape varieties native to the area, but with a small amount of my Malbec to lift the wine and give it a more modern feel." - The Lorusso Family, Winemakers.
