The Wine The Wine
Italy
Region:Veneto
The Biscardo family have an incredible reputation in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, making wines that pound-for-pound hit the mark every single time. The Amarone style is an expensive style to make with the air-dried grapes providing intense concentration but very little juice. Cutting corners to this process to hit a price never works and winemaker Paulo only accepts the best grapes possible for this Amarone and the resulting intensity, balance and complexity simply cannot be argued with.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Paulo Confente
Paulo has worked with the Biscardo brothers for many years, perfecting his art of winemaking in Veneto, a region that has it all for a winemaking enthusiast - native grape varieties, growers of high-quality fruit and an array of traditional wine styles.
"I love the complexity of this wine, that ages incredibly well too. At this stage this Amarone has notes of violets, leather, fresh black cherry and bitter almonds. It evolves in the glass too, so be sure to take your time and savour this wine!" - Paulo Confente, Winemaker.
