This wine represents an excellent entry priced option from what has become the world's most exclusive and expensive wine producing region, Burgundy. The wine comes from Patrice and Maxime Rion, set up by Patrice in 1990 whose son later joined him in 2005. They are a very highly respected, small-scale producers crafting classic wines of great intensity and balance. This, for us, is an amazing 'gateway wine' to the more illustrious regions found in the Côte de Nuits. With lovely red berry and cherry fruit, gentle spice and a silkiness to the palate that is supple and superbly well structured.

Patrice Rion set up his own domaine in 1990 after working at Domaine Daniel Rion (a family estate), and his son Maxime joined officially in 2005. He and the team are based in the Côte de Nuits in Prémeaux-Prissey near the world-renowned vineyard plots of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The domaine practices sustainable viticulture, with careful vineyard management and minimal intervention in the winery. They are known for precise, elegant Pinot Noir wines and have vineyards in prestigious appellations such as Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée.
