The Wine The Wine
Greece
Region:Mantinia
Just a two-hour drive west of Athens lies the region of Mantinia. Unlike the sun-drenched beaches and turquoise seas often associated with Greece, this mountainous area offers high altitudes that create ideal growing conditions for the local Moschofilero grape. Here, the native grape truly takes centre stage. This wine showcases Moschofilero's hallmark aromas of orange blossom, citrus, and rose petal, balanced by a crisp, mineral-driven finish. If you're a fan of classic Portuguese Alvarinho or a bright, zesty Sauvignon, this is one to try.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Katerina and Sotiris Bosinaki
Bosinakis Winery first started operating in 1992 but siblings Katerina and Sotiris Bosinaki have only been bottling their own-label wines since 2009, when they decided to try and show the full potential of the Moschofilero grape. The winery is situated in Steno village and the vineyards sit at 700m, where the high-altitude and clay-rich soils are perfect for Moschofilero, providing it with the right balance for its light body and the fine edge of its aromas. The Bosinakis family have made a name for themselves by concentrating their knowledge and efforts solely on Moschofilero and specializing in small lots of outstanding single vineyard wines.
"We have worked hard to ensure the grape variety is the focus of this wine. This wine features the distinctive aromas of Moschofilero - orange blossom, citrus, and rose petal - beautifully balanced by a bright, mineral-driven finish." - Katerina and Sotiris Bosinaki, Winemakers.
